I have lived in Menzies for most of my life, and know what a caring and vibrant community it is.
The Division of Menzies, in Melbourne’s north-east, is bordered to the north by the winding Yarra River. It is a mix of green, hilly bushland, peaceful suburbs, beautiful parks and active, developing hubs.
It includes the suburbs and localities of Blackburn, Blackburn North, Blackburn South, Box Hill, Box Hill North, Box Hill South, Bulleen, Doncaster, Doncaster East, Donvale, Kerrimuir, Laburnum, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Templestowe, Templestowe Lower, Warrandyte and parts of Balwyn, Balwyn North, Park Orchards and Surrey Hills.
It incorporates areas in the Cities of Manningham, Whitehorse and Boroondara.
The electorate is on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and is now home to over 190,000 people.
Our community is one of the most diverse in the country, home to people from practically every country-of-origin and cultural background on Earth. Our residents’ sense of community spirit and service means there are many local groups and organisations that are the heart of our wonderful area.
Created in 1984, Menzies is named for Australia’s 12th and longest serving Prime Minister, Sir Robert Gordon Menzies. He was Prime Minister from 1939 to 1941 and again from 1949 to 1966.
